Studio Horim

New play
for old stories.

Studio Horim rebuilds Korean folklore and aesthetics as games for today. We don’t put tradition behind glass. We turn it into a world you walk through, build in, fight across and live inside.

Our first title, Hori: Archipelago of Souls, is the opening chapter of that promise. We aim to grow beyond a single game into a lasting world and IP.

How we work

  • Rooted

We study tradition instead of mummifying it, and respect the sources of every color, line, sound and story we draw on.

  • Deep

We never borrow only the surface. Ecology, terrain, growth and combat interlock so the world feels believable.

  • Open

We design for players everywhere from day one: stories that feel new because they are unfamiliar, and land because they are universal.

Our first title

Hori: Archipelago of Souls

Across islands scattered over a sea haunted by souls, a journey to survive, build and fight. An archipelago where the imagination of Korean folklore lives and breathes awaits.

  • A life among souls

The gourd bottle holds life and seals the souls that drift free.

  • A living archipelago

Time flows, weather shifts, and living creatures go about their lives. The islands’ ecology carries on whether or not you are watching.

  • Dig, build, endure

Carve the terrain, mine minerals, and raise homes and workshops. Build boats to cross the sea, and endure cold and hunger to stay alive.

  • Beings of folklore

Monsters and ghosts from Korean folklore appear throughout the islands. At times, you can transform into another being and move among them.

  • Combat steeped in sorcery

Bows and other weapons, spells drawn from spiritual power, and forces of many elements. Combat designed for this world.

  • Strength through discipline

Hunt, gather, and train to build strength, then choose your own path on a branching growth tree. The gear you wear and wield becomes your appearance.

Korean tradition × modern games

Tradition is not a relic.
It is play, alive.

Gourd bottles, sorcery, souls, and monsters. The imagination of old tales is already richly game-like. We reweave it in a language for today.

  • A world drawn from folklore

Gourd bottles, sorcery, souls, and monsters. We look to folklore and folk tradition for the roots of a world that feels familiar yet new.

  • Interpretation, not replication

This site’s visual language begins with the colors of Dancheong, the composition of Irworobongdo, and the texture of Hanji. We translate traditional aesthetics into a contemporary visual language instead of copying them outright.

  • From Korea to the world

What is distinctly Korean can become the most distinctive kind of universal. We design for multilingual service and global release from the start.

Four elemental forces

Wood, lightning, fire and ice: the four forces that run through combat in Hori.

  • Wood나무 namu
  • Lightning번개 beongae
  • Fire불 bul
  • Ice얼음 eoreum

IP vision

Beyond one game,
toward one world.

Hori: Archipelago of Souls is not an ending, but a first chapter. By cultivating its world and characters, we envision a cycle in which games give rise to stories, and stories help games grow.

  • GAME

    Games

At the heart of the world. We aim to broaden the archipelago’s horizon through future titles and expansion content.

  • STORY

    Stories & screen

We hope to extend the world’s storytelling through media such as webtoons, animation, and fiction.

  • GOODS

    Goods & collaborations

We hope to expand how fans meet the world through characters, objects, and collaborative goods shaped by Korean aesthetics.

  • GLOBAL

    Global licensing

We aim for global expansion through multilingual localization and overseas partnerships.

The road so far, and ahead

Raising the frame of the world

We are building the core systems into a playable form: survival, combat, growth, ecology, construction, and sailing.
